    Social Networking is my life!

Many adults and people over the age of 40 say we shouldn't have any Social Networking sites. Is this true? Are they really that bad?

Well they can be. There are many stories of teens and adults killing themselves over what someone said on a Site. Maybe they pretended to be some hot girl and hit on a guy only to break his heart just for fun. So what does he do? He takes a razor to each wrist. Or maybe they pretended to be a nice girl to another girl who had no friends. And then they turned on her, telling her no one likes her and no one ever will. What does she do? She ties the rope around her neck and pushes the chair out from underneath her.

Maybe that's overreacting. Maybe that's just too graphic. I mean I've had fights over social networking sites and no one killed themselves. We'd just pass each other in the hallway like nothing happened.

They also say it prevents us from making real connections with people. We'll only talk to them online and not in person. We will only have electronic friends not real ones. But I don't believe that. Recently my neighbor added me. Now when I pull out of the driveway for work she waves and says Hey and I do the same. I added this girl in my gym class that I never talked to about a week ago. Now we talk online, in gym, and randomly in the hallway. Some people will only talk to people online. But the majority of us use it to stay in touch with people. My best friend is a year ahead of me in school. So now she is at college four hours away from me. How to do we stay in touch and keep our friendship intact. Texting and Facebook. We just had an amazing heart to heart talk last night on Facebook and she really helped me see things clearly.

And of course, they always use the argument that if we are on the computer doing Social Networking we won't go outside and get exercise and fresh air. I definitely know that that is a lie! What did I do today? I posted an update on Facebook and Twitter to see who wanted to go to the park and play tag. I only got a few people, but let me tell you, I was running around, jumping over things, rolling under things, and just playing like I did before the internet was so amazing. And I plan on doing it again soon! Maybe this Wednesday since I have school off. And I'll do the same thing and Twitter and Facebook it to see who else wants to come.

So to me, Social Networking isn't a bad thing. It lets me stay in touch with my friends and some of my distance relatives. But there is no definite answer on whether it is a good or bad thing. It's really each users opinion that decides it.

    I love you truly! XOXO

    There's a hold on me

The internet is always changing. We all know that. But do we ever really think about what that means?

I remember when Xanga first came out. It first came out in 1999. By 2000 most of us had one. It was place where we could post random blogs and comment on others. Wikipedia defines Xanga as "a website that hosts weblogs, photoblogs, and social networking profiles." It used to be all the rage. Everyone had to have one. Everyone had to read how everyone else's day went.

But around 2004 MySpace became the new thing. MySpace's let us design a profile, add pictures, add videos, post blogs, post bulletins, and of course see when a friend was online. You could comment on their profile or send them a personal message. We could take quizzes and talk about that special person we were crushing on. We could add music to our profile and even customize our site with HTML. We could even make a Music MySpace where we could possibly get discovered by Myspace's Record Label. We could make our Top 8 friends known and tell the world our religious views, relationship status, and sexual orientation. Plus we could set our profile to private so those nosy parents and creepy stalkers didn't know what we were up to. Our favorite thing to do was change our Username. It could range from a personal nickname to a song lyric to random letters. But every time we changed it, we felt a little bit cooler.

Facebook was the next step. When it first came out it was exclusive to college students only. Sorry high schoolers. But then the unthinkable happened. They allowed high schoolers on! Thousands of MySpacers flocked over to Facebook. Later on they changed the registration to anyone over 13. Facebook did everything MySpace did. But it had the "What's on your mind?" section. In this section, users could post anything from "Hanging out with my best friend." to "Why did she leave me?" to "I wanna run away." And from there other users could comment on, what we now turn as Status, or even use the "Like" button to let the poster know someone likes their idea. You could write a person's Wall, comment on a picture, and even tag a friend in a picture. They even had a Poke feature. I personally use this feature to instigate Poke wars. We could also add events such as a school dance and invite people. The invited person could then check "Attending, Not Attending, or Maybe Attending." On the Event's page they could get info such as time and what the event is about and also post a comment about why they can't make it or how excited they are to go. Users could also add Groups, sort of like virtual clubs. They can range from your school's drama club to people who hate Perez Hilton.

Our favorite thing about Facebook was Facebook Chat. We didn't need to install anything. We didn't have to make sure our friends had it. We didn't have to sit there going "Do you have AIM? No I have Skype." Everyone with a Facebook had Facebook Chat. It sat at the bottom of the window so that you could chat and still update your status.

Twitter came out around 2006. It wasn't as popular back then. But as mobile blogging became more popular so did Twitter. Users could send in 140 characters of their status using their phone, iPod, or the computer. With Twitter users could ReTweet a Tweet of their friend's they enjoyed. They could reply to a Tweet simply adding @ in front of the person's username. They could follow anyone from friends to celebrities. They could send Direct Messages to friends. If they enjoyed a particular Tweet they could Favorite it so they could look at it later. Twitter even included special searches. Simply add a # to a phrase without spaces and you could click it. It would lead you to a page where everyone else's Tweets that had that phrase and # would appear. For example, simply Tweet " #imsinglebecause I refuse to settle" Then click the #imsinglebecause and you'll be lead to page where everyone's post will be from "#imsinglebecause I have morals." to "#imsinglebecause she cheated on me." Then of course there is TwitPic. Here you could upload a picture and all of your Twitter friends could view it.

There are many more Social Networking sites, including Friendster, Hi5, Open Diary, Live Journal, Youtube, DailyBooth, and many more. In about two years we'll probably have ten more. The question we must ask ourselves, is do we really need these sites at all? Or are they harmful to us? Check my next post to find out my opinion.

Thanks for reading. You know you love me.

    Hello you!

Life is pretty good. I've found God again. And I couldn't be happier. It's like I know everything will work out eventually with Him on my side. But don't worry. I'm still bisexual. I still love new age stuff. I'm still the same person. I'm just happier. But so I like a friend of mine... I think... I don't even really know. I'm so confused. So I'm gonna do one of those pro and con lists. :P

I love Roslyn and Lizzie. So much! With Roslyn she always is there with her sarcastic wit to make me laugh. And with Lizzie she's there to show me God will make it ok! Plus I love all my friends. They are all there when I need them!!!

My friend Kelly wrote out her plan for life so I'm gonna write out mine!

I plan on graduating high school. Then I'll go to UNF where I will major in Communications: Journalism and minor in Business Management. Then when I graduate I'll work for Alternative Press magazine until I branch off to start my own magazine. My magazine will mostly cover music, but will also include sections on current events. My friend Lizzie will work on my magazine too. We'll move to Maine to raise her kids (I get to raise the gay ones) where I will meet a man who loves to read and write and spend a lot of time outside.

    :D

    Today was amazing!

So today I went to Downtown PC with Ericka, Kristi, Katie, and Emily! It was so much fun! I haven't hung out with Katie and Emily in a while and I miss it. But after Ericka, Kristi and I went to the mall. I bought a new jacket, a shirt, a ring, and the new Alternative Press magazine!

Then I went to work. It was pretty fun considering it's work :P. But afterwords Roz and I hung out! We went and saw Thomas! We were talking for like 2 hours straight and it was amazing. I miss hanging out with Thomas and Roz together. Just us and no one else.

Now I'm listening to Vikay. She needs someone to talk to and for her I'm there. She's one of my closest friends. I'm hoping everything works out by Wednesday or else I'm gonna have to beat a certain kid at church! I kidd I kidd!!! ... or do I? The world may never know.

Love me or hate me, It's still an obsession. And you love me! You know you do!

    It had to be you!

Just because, there once was love, don't mean a thing.

Remember when? Lately a lot of people have been saying remember when. And I mean like 17 year olds are saying this. But they always do the obvious ones. Like I remember when Pluto was a planet. Or I remember the original 150 pokemon.

But I wanna hear some new ones. Like I remember when McDonald's Monopoly had the game board that you stuck the pieces to. I remember when Tamagotchi did three things and that's it. I remember when kids enjoyed playing outside so much, we didn't need commercials to try and get them out there. I remember when playing doctor meant putting fake band-aids on a doll or stuffed animal. I remember when love was getting a cookie. I remember when the opposite gender had cooties.

Speaking of cooties... So I went to Wal-Mart to buy an exercise trampoline and I was looking at them when this lady comes down the aisle with her son. And the mom said something about a girl and the boy goes "Ew. Girls have cooties." And I laughed to myself remember when I thought that. But then he goes, "I won't like girls until I'm old like him." and pointed at me. Apparently I'm old now. :P But it's ok. The woman apologized and I was like "It's ok. My niece and nephews think I'm old too."

Everyone seems so depressed lately. Like at school we all laugh and smile. But then you read the stuff on Facebook, and MySpace, and Twitter, and Xanga and they are all depressed. And most of them want to leave their town. I left for a weekend to visit Jacksonville, where I want to go to college. And I loved it, it was so much fun. But I missed Panama City. And I missed my friends. But the ones that want to leave never have, and don't know what it's gonna be like. My friend Lizzie couldn't wait to get out of this town. She finally did, to Jacksonville. First letter she writes me is about how Jacksonville isn't home and how much she misses PC.

I truthfully love this town. We don't have much here. But I can roll the windows down in my car and sing along to music and 8 times out of 10 someone else will be doing the same thing. I even got a car of two girls and one guy to sing along to Paramore's Misery Business. It was amazing. And you can usually find your friends hanging at the mall, Pier Park, or the local Wal-Mart. I'm gonna be sad to leave this town. But I'll visit it! You know if this town had an Apple store I might never leave. But Jacksonville has one so it's ok!

Ok people. I'm off for tonight. Remember a few key things

Just because, there once was love, don't mean a thing.

Never gonna give, live my life, feel better each and every day, not gonna quit so there, sick of this shyt so there.

You gotta believe! Don't fear don't break it! You gotta be free!

    :D
